Do you know for certain that your sins have been forgiven, and that you are on your way to heaven? You can know!! You can know for certain that your sins are forgiven and that you have a home in heaven awaiting you. Here is how:
1. Realize and admit that you are a sinner.
The Bible states in Romans 3:23 that all have sinned. We all have broken God’s laws and commands and that makes us a sinner. How many times have you told a lie in your lifetime – thousands maybe? That alone makes you a sinner. What about adultery, using God’s name in vain – blasphamey, covetousness, not honoring the Lord’s day, stealing, etc.? We are all sinners – thousands of times over, and that means real trouble.
2. Realize that God will judge all sin.
Again, the Bible states in Romans 6:23 that the wages (the payment) of sin is death. Why is there death in the world? It is because of the curse of sin that began in the Garden of Eden. It all began with Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God and then death came as the result. Since that time death has been passed down to us all because, like Adam and Eve, we all have sinned and disobeyed God (Romans 5:12). God’s judgement on our sin is not only physical death, but eternal death – eternal separation from God in the Lake of Fire. This is what we deserve for our disobedience against a holy God. It is bad news, but there is good news!!!
3. We can be forgiven!!
God loves you very much. He does not want you to face judgement for your sin. He is not willing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). God loves you so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to pay the penalty for your sin – He died for you. The penalty for our sin is death, and Jesus Christ paid that penalty for you. Jesus Christ was perfect and without any sin as God’s Son. When He was on the cross, He took upon Himself your sin to pay sin’s penalty – death. He then was buried, but He did not stay in the grave. Three days afterwards, He arose from the dead!!! Believe it – it actually happened as was witnessed by hundreds of people after he arose. He did this for you! He did this so that your sins could be forgiven.
4. Believe it!
God’s Word says that Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, died to take the penalty of your sin and to pay for it in full. The Bible puts it this way in Romans 5:8:
"But God commendeth (demonstrated) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
John 3:16 says:
"For God so loved the world (that includes you) that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever (that is you again) believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
The last half of Romans 6:23 says:
"but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
God has paid for and provided a free gift to you – it is forgiveness and eternal life. You must open up your heart and accept it for yourself. You cannot save yourself – eternal life and forgivness only comes through Christ and Christ alone. No amount of good works can save you, being good cannot save you, being religious cannot save you – only Christ can save you.
5. Accept it for yourself.
Christ has done it all for you. Now it is up to you to believe on Christ, and that what He did for you on the cross is enough to save you from your sin and accept it for yourself. Are you tired of your sin and want forgiveness? Would you like to have a fresh start with a clean slate through the forgiveness that God offers through Jesus Christ? Would you like to know that you have eternal life and a home in heaven awaiting you? You can – accept Christ into your life today.
1. Ask Him to forgive your sin. Turn from a life of practicing sin and turn to living for the Lord.
2. Place your trust or faith in Christ. Believe that He died for you and that He arose from the dead to provide you with the free gift of forgiveness and eternal life.
3. Call upon Him. The Bible says in Romans 10:13:
"For whosoever (that includes you again) shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
That is a promise from God – a sure thing. If you will cry out to God – He will forgive all your sin – past, present, and future, and He will save you from judgement and give you His free gift of eternal life. Ask for His forgiveness, and ask Him to save you. Ask Him to come into your life and change you. He will do it – He promised.
If you have asked the Lord to come into your life and to save you, will you let us know about it?
